Having just pulled out a one-rupee coin from my 16-month old son’s throat, I’ve begun to realise that “safely” is the primary way to raise boys. Or girls, for that matter. But clearly, there is more to raising a kid. Irrespective of whether it is a boy or a girl.  

Our cities are growing cosmopolitan. Big brands making a splash, mall culture, apartment culture is taking over the old life we knew. But how’s the ‘fabric of culture’ holding up in this changing scenario? Who is the keeper of 'respectability' amidst all this? Sajana J narrates an incident to give you a glimpse.

Each day is a roller-coaster of sorts. Forget the last two and a half years, let’s just talk about the last 24 hours of my motherhood. I have laughed my head off, scolded till it hurt my forehead to frown, pulled out bits of paper from the little imp’s mouth, saved her from falling off the table, sang at the top of my voice, repeated the same story four times in half an hour, worried about the cough, comforted, played silly, and what not.
