So how many of you watched the Soccer World Cup? Feet working magic on the grass, the ball sailing across the field, evoking roars from the stands, the hush after the missed penalties and the explosion of joy after the Japan nailed it?

Japanbecame the first Asian country yesterday to win the Women’s World Soccer Cup, beating the much fancied US in a heart-stopping penalty shoot-out , in Frankfurt, Germany.  Great going girls! Don’t be taken in by the coverage of the win by mainstream papers though. Women’s soccer still continues to get less coverage, publicity or even money. This despite the smart and provocative questions asked by three members of France’s football team. Recently, footballers Gaetane Thiney, Elodie Thomis and Corine Franco decided to pose naked for the German newspaper Bild, and asked its readers “"Is this how we should show up before you come to our games?"
